Hillman “Tilly” Utility Vehicle

from £2.50
Only 2 available

Kit Features:

  • 1 x Hillman Tilly utility vehicle model

  • Interior details

  • Fine detail 3D printed resin

When war broke out in 1939, the British Ministry of Supply was faced with a shortage of light vehicles with which to equip the armed services. Therefore, they cooperated with a number of British auto manufacturers to create a series of light utility vehicles that met the demand, based on existing civilian and staff car designs in production. They were quickly given the affectionate “Tilly” nickname. Vehicles built to this specification included examples by Austin, Hillman, Morris and Standard, identifiable by minor differences in detail and bodywork but all following the same basic principle. This model represents the Hillman production vehicle, seen by some as the more attractive Tilly. These simple and versatile vehicles would have been in all kinds of service, on airfields, around bases, in depots and many other locations serving with all the armed forces. Many are preserved by private owners today.

Please note: clear windows can be created using Microscale Kristal Klear or similar liquid glazing products.
