Bf109E-7 Trop Hangar Edition

£8.29

Kit Features:

  • 1x Messerschmitt Bf109E

  • Full colour instructions

  • Decals by Cartograf

  • 2x Marking Schemes Included

Having been proven in temperate theatres of the war, the “Emil” was challenged with the harsh conditions of the North African desert – a world away from the ice and snow of the Eastern Front. A special air filter and new external fuel tanks gave the “Trop” the ability to withstand sand and dust, while covering the often long distances demanded by combat operations. It was the backbone of Jagdgeschwader 27's contingent of fighter aircraft, along with a small but potent force of fighter bombers, medium bombers, and reconnaissance aircraft that made up the Luftwaffe's forces in Libya. In 1942, later variants of the Bf 109 began to replace the E variant in front line units, by which time the venerable aircraft had seen a great deal of fierce fighting in extremely arduous conditions.

The landing gear can be modelled as lowered or retracted, as well as optional bladeless propeller spinners to represent the aircraft in flight.

This kit contains high quality waterslide decal markings made by Cartograf, for two aircraft:

  • Messerschmitt Bf 109E-7 Trop, II./JG27, Libya, August 1941. Flown by Hauptmann Erich Gerlitz.

  • Messerschmitt Bf 109E-7 Trop, W.Nr. 4964, VII./ZG1, Egypt, August 1942.
